Q:  How do you assign rights for child support collection to the State of Alabama for enforcement by the District Attorney's Office?
A:  Contact the Coffee or Pike County Department of Human Resources, depending upon your residence,  between the hours of 8:00 and 12:00, Monday through Friday. They will set up an appointment for you to meet with a child support social worker.

Q:  How do you get an update on an open case with the Department of Human Resources?
A:  The first point of contact is always the Coffee or Pike County Department of Human Resources between the hours of 8:00 and 12:00 noon Monday through Friday.

Q:  What do you do if the absent parent of your child is out of state and not paying?
A:  Contact the Department of Human Resources and explain your situation. Once your case is referred to the District Attorney's Office for enforcement you will be sent a URESA (Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act) packet to complete. Upon completion of of this packet and the preparation of various other required documents, your case will then be sent to the state of residence of the absent parent for enforcement by that state.

Q:  What do you do if you have never been married to the father of your child and the father will not help support the child?
A:  Contact the Department of Human Resources and explain to them you need to bring a paternity action against the father of your child.  If you have a child support case you will be notified by mail at least one week prior to your court hearing.
